Used in the early 1960s and 70s, the Technicolour Magi-Cartridge was mainly used for educational and entertainment applications, along with promotional films.

Magi-Cartridges were also used in what was known as a PhonoVue System. This was a sort of audio-visual jukebox where a random film was shown to accompany the record being played'.

The system was also used to contain movies taken by consumers, with the films put into the cartridge by Technicolor film processing labs.
