A Brief History of Philips Video 2000
The Philips Video 2000, also known as VCC, was a consumer analogue format which was launched in 1979 and ran until 1988.
Unlike VHS or Betamax, the VCC tapes were double sided, so you could record on one side then flip over to record on the other. Unfortunately, the format wasn’t a great success, despite offering such technical innovations. Ultimately, it lost out to its rival- the VHS system.

Can my tapes be mastered to Blu-Ray?
Well, yes and no…
Any recording format on standard definition was never HD to start with. However, on our professional hardware, an SD to HD conversion will look much sharper. This is because it fills in the missing picture information on the upscale.

All our videotape professional captures go through what’s known as ‘timebase correctors’. But what does this mean in plain English? Simply that we will reduce or eliminate errors caused by instability in analogue recorders.
