A Brief History of the PXL 2000
Manufactured in 1987, the PXL 2000 was only capable of recording 10-minutes of video onto an audio cassette. Compared to today’s technology, that seems pretty miserly. Clearly the public agreed as the format didn’t last for long…
Since it only survived on the market for a year, a mere 400,000 units were produced, making this camcorder highly rare. It has become something of cult product among artists and media historians, with its rarity making recordings worth archiving more than ever
Time-based Correction
All our videotape professional captures go through time base correctors which reduce or eliminate errors caused by instability in analogue recorders.
If you want detailed technical information on this process there’s plenty of information available on the internet. So, while we could bore you with the technical stuff, we only will if you wish to know more!
Put simply, our complex industrial units will produce the best picture from your original recordings
Bespoke Editing and Titling
All your footage captured in ultra-rare format are be edited just as they are, with the addition of titling or a soundtrack if required by the client.
PXL 2000 recordings are in black and white, so we fully restore the levels of black and make correction and curve adjustments, to make it better than the original.
Can we add colours to the footage?
We have had clients ask us to convert to duotone single colour. However, we don’t recommend this process which takes away that magical quality which has fuelled the cult status that has developed around this format
Again, like all other video formats, we provide professional DVD menu for clients who want DVD and cover or digital file outputs onto SD USB or digital file.
